Ruben Sabaté Recovers the Family Bakery in El Lloar

Clos93 marks the return of the Sabaté family to El Lloar, the village that legend places at “the center of the world.” Ruben Sabaté crafts wines in the very same space where his grandparents once ran the Cal Pastisser bakery. A family winery that respects the traditional methods of Priorat’s past.

From Bread to Wine with the Same Philosophy

Ruben Sabaté’s grandparents worked the land in El Lloar and ran the local bakery at Cal Pastisser. Today, that same house produces wines that speak of family, continuity, and memory. Clos93 is the closing of a circle: a return to the roots and to the place where his ancestors tilled the soil.

Sabaté produces wine by respecting the old ways of doing things, believing that the best future can only take root in the memory of the past. Memory is the thread that unites generations. In the DOQ Priorat, the land provides the character; Sabaté adds memory, passion, and authenticity. The wines are fragments of family history—records turned into wine and shared emotions.

A Winery Where You Feel at Home

When you enter Clos93, you are entering the Sabaté home. They open the doors of the winery with a natural warmth, ensuring visitors feel part of their story. They taste, explain, and share without haste, just as it has always been done in the village. It is a family winery where everyone lends a hand when needed, staying united and enjoying wine during long post-meal conversations (sobretaules).

They do not seek excessive growth; instead, they focus on caring for what they have and passing it on with pride to future generations. The winery is also a way to give visibility to a small but vibrant village and to emphasize the value of time and the tranquility found there. According to legend, El Lloar is “lo mig del món” (the middle of the world).

Vineyard Tours and Underground Cellars

Clos93 offers two wine tourism experiences:
The Classic Visit: Discover the village, the family, and the winery with a friendly and engaging tasting of some of their most characteristic wines.
The Premium Visit: Begins with a stroll through the vineyards to understand the environment and capture panoramic views of Priorat.

Visitors can see firsthand how one of the steepest slopes (costers) in the area is worked. This is followed by a guided tour of the underground part of the cellar and ends with a guided tasting of five exclusive wines paired with typical Priorat products. It is an intimate and authentic experience where the wine serves as an invitation to talk, learn, and enjoy.
