L’Altre is a celebration of a fascinating dual personality. Crafted under biodynamic viticulture principles by Lagravera, this red from Costers del Segre merges the youth of fresh fruit with the subtle maturity of French oak.

L’Altre reflects a unique project born in 2006: the transformation of a former gravel pit into an exceptional vineyard. Located in Serra Llarga, within the DO Costers del Segre, the Lagravera winery works with an absolute commitment to biodiversity, being the only certified biodynamic winery in Lleida. This environment, marked by gypsum soils that provide a characteristic salinity, defines the identity of the Vinya Núria plot, the source of this wine.


The blend is as bold as it is balanced, featuring 70% Grenache for juiciness, accompanied by Malbec (23%), Cabernet Sauvignon (5%), and Monastrell (2%). The result is a strikingly honest wine that captures the continental climate and Mediterranean influence of the Segre river basin.

Precise winemaking: respecting wild yeasts

The creation of L’Altre begins with a manual harvest between September and October, using 8kg crates to preserve grape integrity in cold storage at 6 °C until processing. The winemaking process focuses on varietal purity: fermentation is split equally between cement tanks and stainless steel, using exclusively wild yeasts.

After a cold pre-fermentative maceration at 15 °C, the wine undergoes a short three-month aging period in medium-toast French oak barrels. This measured wood contact is the key to its “double face”: it polishes the structure and adds spicy nuances without overshadowing the fruit load, maintaining a vibrant freshness and an approachable texture that invites relaxation.

Harmony in the glass: fruit, spices, and balsamics

Visually, L’Altre presents a bright cherry ruby color with medium depth and mauve reflections. On the nose, the experience is deep and creamy, evoking blackberry yogurt, blueberries, and cherries, evolving into notes of chocolate, pepper, and an elegant balsamic aniseed finish. The palate is succulent and smooth, showing a perfect balance between tart fruit and a hint of oak maturity.

At approximately 14% ABV, it is the ideal companion for BBQs, artisanal charcuterie boards, cured cheeses, and hearty meat-based rice dishes.
It is best served between 15 and 17 °C to enjoy its persistence and playful youth.
