Clos d’Alè is a cosmetics brand born from the collaboration between the wine and pharmaceutical sectors. The project harnesses the antioxidant properties of Priorat grapes to develop treatments aimed at improving skin health through natural vineyard actives and circular economy principles.

The project is driven by Albert Costa, winemaker at Celler Vall Llach, and his twin brother Ernest Costa, a pharmacist.

This partnership combines technical knowledge of Porrera’s century-old vines with the rigor of pharmaceutical formulation. Clos d’Alè is based on viticosmetics: utilizing grape residues (skins and seeds) remaining after winemaking. The extreme conditions of the “llicorella” soil and lack of water cause the fruit to concentrate high-quality antioxidant actives. This regional energy is translated into clean formulas, free of parabens, silicones, and mineral oils, prioritizing skin health and environmental respect.

Science applied to the product

The brand’s efficacy is embodied in a concise yet specialized range.

An example is their facial cream, formulated with Carignan extracts, which uses wine polyphenols to protect the skin against aging and external factors. This same philosophy of natural resource management applies to products like the hand and nail cream, where Priorat olive oil is combined with organic baobab oil. The brand commits to local cosmetics where every ingredient has a clear function and total traceability, from the laboratory to the slate soils where the vines grow.
