A restaurant with a fusion soul
Bareku is a gastronomic spot in Vic that has made Mediterranean-Mexican fusion its hallmark. Led by Gil Currius and Mónica Torres, the restaurant combines Catalan roots with authentic Mexican flavors, creating a unique culinary experience. The menu brings together local favorites like ham or patatas bravas with nachos, tacos, and traditional Mexican recipes, always respecting their essence. Their goal is to offer fresh, flavorful dishes made with local produce while incorporating essential Mexican ingredients to preserve authenticity.
A diverse menu for everyone
Bareku’s philosophy is simple: fresh products, bold flavors, and variety for all tastes. The menu includes tapas like calamari, bravas, and chicken fingers, along with a taqueria featuring cochinita pibil, beef, and pork. These are made using authentic Mexican ingredients such as specialty flours and chiles imported directly from Mexico. This ensures the highest quality and a flavor that transports diners across the Atlantic.
A passionate team
Behind Bareku is a team with a deep passion for gastronomy. Chef and owner Gil Currius trained at the Hospitality School of Tona and has been cooking since childhood, inspired by his brother. Mónica Torres, who manages the dining room, adds her expertise in tourism and is known for her margaritas and micheladas. Complementing them is Eloi Illamola, in charge of craft beers, which change weekly and share the spotlight with Mexican imports. Together, they create a welcoming space with a cuisine designed to surprise and connect with people.
