Còsmic Vinyaters: Energy, Consciousness, and Terroir
Single-varietal wines transmitting conscious energy
Salvador Batlle Barrabeig has established Còsmic Vinyaters as a cornerstone of Catalan natural wine. Operating between Agullana and Rodonyà, he crafts single-varietal wines rooted in biodynamic principles and a unique philosophy that integrates sacred geometry with minimal intervention.
From Penedès to Empordà: A Purpose-Driven Winemaker
Barcelona/Newsroom, January 20, 2026
Born into a farming family in Rodonyà (Baix Penedès), Salvador Batlle made his first wine at just sixteen. After technical training and a formative stint in New Zealand, he broke away from conventional methods. In 2013, drawn by the granite soils and the fierce tramuntana wind, he settled in Agullana (Alt Empordà).
Alongside his partner Joana Padilla, he now manages 9.5 hectares across both regions. In Empordà, he has championed the recovery of native varieties like White, Grey, and Black Carignan, while in Penedès, he focuses on Xarel·lo, Sumoll, and adapted varieties like Cabernet Franc.
Biodynamics with a Spiritual Vision
“Còsmic” is more than a name; it’s a holistic methodology. Batlle aligns his work with lunar and astronomical cycles, employing unconventional techniques such as energetic cleansing, sacred geometry, and sound vibrations to harmonize the vineyard.
The wines are pure and natural—no added sulfites, no filtering, and no fining. His goal is “purity upon purity”: wines that express a single grape and a single terroir. Each bottle features sacred geometry symbols linked to Platonic solids, and names like Valentia, Confiança, and Gratitud reflect the intention behind their creation. For Batlle, wine is a vessel for energy and consciousness. #Naturalwines
Wines Worth Discovering
Notable references include Valentia, made from the nearly extinct White Carignan of Agullana, and Connexió Còsmica, a skin-contact Xarel·lo from Penedès. The Gratitud series serves as a tribute to his family’s roots in Baix Penedès.
The winery offers guided experiences for groups (6–15 people, €25/person), including a vineyard tour and a tasting of four wines paired with local products (booking via info@cosmic.cat). It is a sensory journey that reflects Batlle’s view of winemaking as both a creative and spiritual act.
