Els Tinars: The Essence of Girona’s Produce

The family legacy defining the flavors of the Empordà

The perfect balance between tradition and contemporary haute cuisine

A traditional masia dedicated to seasonal and local produce

Located in an iconic “masia” in Llagostera, Els Tinars restaurant celebrates the richness of the Catalan larder with a Michelin star. The Gascons family leads a proposal where product purity and impeccable technique define excellence.

Four generations of respect for tradition

10/03/26

The history of Els Tinars is the narrative of a family saga dedicated to hospitality since 1918. What began as the Bahía restaurant in Sant Feliu de Guíxols was transformed in 1978 into the current farmhouse at the foot of the highway connecting Girona with the Costa Brava. This strategic enclave has evolved from a local landmark into a first-rate gastronomic destination.

Under third-generation management, the establishment has successfully evolved without losing its roots, maintaining the warmth of a traditional manor with the sophistication of high-end service. The cuisine is defined by absolute respect for seasonality, where surf and turf converge in dishes that prioritize authentic flavor over artifice, establishing itself as an essential stop for the gourmet reader seeking truth on the plate.

The creative rigor of Marc and Elena Gascons

The restaurant’s current success is built on the perfect symbiosis between siblings Marc and Elena Gascons.

Marc, trained under masters such as Joan Roca and Carme Ruscalleda, took the helm in 1999, bringing a fresh and technical perspective that earned the Michelin star in 2008. His style is clear and objective: updated Catalan cuisine where exceptional raw materials take center stage.

For her part, Elena Gascons manages the front-of-house with serene professionalism, ensuring a fluid and elegant guest experience.

Recently awarded the 2025 National Gastronomy Prize, Marc Gascons has focused all his efforts on the flagship restaurant, stepping away from external projects to further refine Els Tinars’ offering and maintain the high standards the region deserves.

A seasonal symphony in the Tasting Menu

The gastronomic offering is structured around an extensive à la carte menu and set menus that change with the rhythm of nature.

The “Tasting Menu” (€128) is a seven-step journey through the best of the local fish market and gardens, including pieces such as blue lobster cooked in seawater or beef Wellington with foie gras. .

For a more concise yet equally refined experience, the “Seasonal Menu” (€59) offers a perfect synthesis of market-driven cuisine. Iconic dishes such as honeyed potato gnocchi with caviar or traditional roasted meat cannelloni coexist with a wine selection by sommelier Xavi González, who manages a cellar with over 460 references. The experience culminates with artisanal desserts, such as the classic soufflé, closing a sensory circle that rewards patience, craft, and the luxury of well-executed simplicity.
